Raymond Davis and Pakistan (aka The Taliban)
According to Al-Jazeera in English Raymond Davis has been denied diplomatic immunity by a court in Lahore, Pakistan. The whole case regarding Mr. Davis is rather confusing considering other reports which are saying that the matter of diplomatic immunity will not be taken up again until March 14th, 2011 in the Lahore High Court.
The criminal court has apparently delayed charging Mr. Davis with murder at this time so his lawyer has more "time to prepare". The criminal hearing has been postponed until March 8th, 2011. To charge Mr. Davis in this matter with "murder" violates Pakistan's own criminal codes.
The United States had previously refused a proposed "prisoner trade" with Islamabad, Pakistan to exchange Mr. Davis with Aafia Siddiqui also known as "Lady Al-Qaeda". I think at this point it would take an incredible leap in faith to believe that many elements of Pakistan's ISI, and the Pakistani government is anything more than a support group for the Taliban. Mr. Davis is now a hostage of the Pakistani government. I am simply not that credulous about any Muslim majority country. With "friends" like the Pakistanis who the hell needs enemies?
Mr. Davis, you are in our prayers.
