(RTTNews) - A suspected German al-Qaeda operative, disguised as a woman in burqa to evade security dragnet, was arrested while leaving Pakistan's restive north-western tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

Police arrested the man on Tuesday after receiving a tip in the north-western district of Bannu. The suspect was disguised as a burqa-clad woman.

Rami Mackenzie, 27, was traveling in a car along with a local man and his young daughter when they were detained by a joint team of local police and Army personnel at a checkpoint in Bannu district, reports quoting intelligence officials said.
