Every access control point to Fort Hood will close for five minutes at 1:40 p.m. Friday[today], as the entire installation observes a moment of silence for the fallen and wounded from the Nov. 5 shooting incident here.

“The moment of silence will begin at 1:41 p.m.,” Tom Rheinlander, Fort Hood Garrison Command public affairs officer, said. “Following the moment of silence, retreat will sound, we’ll lower our flags and Soldiers will be released for the day.”

The sounding of retreat will conclude a special Remembrance Ceremony, which begins at 1 p.m. Friday at Cameron Field. The public is invited to attend this event, the second of two scheduled that day. Gates will reopen at 1:45 p.m.

A 10 a.m. award ceremony is also planned at the Fort Hood Memorial Park. This ceremony will recognize dozens of Soldiers and civilians whose actions Nov. 5 went above and beyond the call of duty.

“We will also unveil a Memorial Stone, donated by our local AUSA chapter, which will be permanently and prominently placed in Memorial Park,” Maj. Gen. Will Grimsley, Fort Hood senior commander, said in a public service announcement released last month.

The morning event, by invitation only, is expected to draw more than 100 family members of the fallen.
To Nidal Hasan, you don't deserve to breathe the same air heroes do. Go to hell SoA (Soldier of Allah), go to hell.
