Two Canadians were kidnapped in December, the other four, who included tourists from Britain, Germany, and Switzerland, were kidnapped in January.
BRUSSELS, April 2 (Reuters) - Six Western hostages held by al Qaeda's North African arm are in good health, Malian President Amadou Toumani Toure said on Thursday, adding he was optimistic and should be able to give concrete information soon.

"I heard before leaving Bamako yesterday that the hostages are all doing well. We are working on the ground to free these men and women so that they can return to their families," Toumani Toure told a news conference in Brussels. The president of the West African nation said he could not go into detail for reasons of confidentiality, but hoped the situation would be resolved soon.
I would hope these hostages are rescued. To hell with giving into these terrorists demands, it just ensures more of the same.
