It seems there is a reform going on to stop the teaching of "pure hatred against the West and Israel" in Afghanistan Madrassas. Hmm, apparent Mr. Dean feels 40% isn't enough time to teach islam and the students will go to Pakistan where wannabe Taliban learn. Mr. Dean doesn't want to lose students to Pakistan because he probably wants to teach for the Taliban himself at his place of hatred.

"The Afghan government has changed its policy on madrassas, the religious schools that inspired a generation of fundamentalists who became the Taliban
Rather than trying to freeze them out, it is trying to bring them into the state system, providing they widen their syllabus to teach other subjects. Under the reform the schools will be able to continue to teach subjects connected to the Islamic faith for 40% of the time, but the other 60% will be taken up with more standard subjects - history, geography, science and languages - as well as computer studies."
Maybe it is just me but I feel 40% time devoted to islam is too much. I would like to see 01%, that way they can learn to lead productive lives and make a contribution to Afghanistan like no-more-mud-huts but real structures to live in. Pray.. and I mean pray.. at the mosque, but leave your learning to something productive rather than killing others and self.

I am sure he doesn't think 40% is good enough --- that old immersion trick these mad mullah types use is to brainwash and not to teach. It is a crying shame that anyone would think that this is all the education a child would need.
No wonder they are so flipping backwards.
